New Teacher Bio: Ingrid Mao

Meet Ingrid Mao, one of d.tech’s newest additions during the 2024-2025 school year. Not too far from this campus, Mao was raised in San Mateo, and she now works here at Design Tech High School as the Beyond d.tech and Career Counselor.

Currently 28 years old, Mao enjoys a good walk now and then, shopping, and classic rom-coms. Her family is from Taiwan, and she visits the country frequently. In contrast to her profession here at Design Tech, before coming here, Mao was an academic high school counselor at El Camino High School in South San Francisco. She previously went to college at San Diego State and got her master's at the University of San Francisco. 

As the eldest daughter in her family, she intends to take care of the students here at Design Tech and be more prepared for their future ahead, just as she takes care of her family. Mao also helps students figure out what careers to pursue after high school life based on their interests and plans for themselves. Currently, she describes d.tech as being very supportive and welcoming of her arrival. She also says that the school is very different from the average public school where she used to work. Mao loves the image of our school, allowing students here to expand their horizons and be creative.
