Who’s this Guy? It’s Guy Geva, the new d.tech Physics teacher and 9th grade advisor brought on for the 2024-25 school year. A Bay Area native, he was born and raised in San Mateo and attended a local high school, Aragon. He then went to Harvey Mudd College, a small, STEM-focused school on the outskirts of Los Angeles County, where he studied Physics.
Discovering his passion for teaching through tutoring and swim instructing, Mr. Geva decided to move abroad and teach English to students in Japan for three years after graduating university. After returning to California, Geva returned to his physics roots teaching at d.tech.
But why d.tech? Geva enjoys the student-led focus and aspirational values of d.tech. He is excited by the opportunity to make his own curriculum and tweak it according to the interests of his students. Geva also appreciates the hands-on approach that d.tech has to learning and is very interested in the DRGs and how they might be utilized by students in his classes.
Though he hasn’t had much time for it with his new gig, Geva is an enjoyer of games, both physical and digital. He likes board games such as Wingspan, Oceans, and Dominion, and a variety of video games like the Final Fantasy, Persona, and Legend of Zelda series, as well as some roguelikes, such as Slay the Spire, Balatro, and The Binding of Isaac. He also enjoys spending time with his cat, Uno.
We are happy to welcome Mr. Geva— and Uno— into the d.tech community.
