Taylor Swift has been releasing the track names of all of her songs slowly over through the end of November and into October in a Tiktok mini series called “Midnight's Mayhem With Me”. Swift sits next to an old-fashioned lottery ball cage. Inside the cage there are balls with numbers corresponding to the song number on the album. During the 8th episode on October 5, 2022, Swift announced that the 11th song on the new album would be called Karma. Swifties have speculated that an album called Karma would have been released back in 2016, but was ultimately scrapped.

On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Swift asked a question that got all the Swifties thinking: “Can I hint at something three years in advance?” Since Swift said this during the interview, Her fans have theorized about what easter eggs have been hidden in the past. One major theory for a potential easter egg is in the music video for “The Man''. It was released as the fourth song in the Lover album and features all the previously released albums graffitied on the wall of 13th street station. Included in these names was “karma”, written twice: once in black and once in orange. The theories surrounding why Swift never released the album all come back to the problems she had during that time frame: whether it be her break up with Calvin Harris, or Kanye West’s song. Fans suggest that Taylor Swift took a break from everything, and that releasing a new album would bring a lot of unwanted attention to her.

During the 2022 VMAs, Swift announced that she would be coming out with a new album on October 21. After hinting at the name of her new album on social media and during the VMAs, she revealed the name of the album as “Midnights”. The album cover has Swift's face with a lighter in front of  it, making all her fans wonder what the theme “Midnights” could be. Swift explains in an instagram post that “Midnights” tells the stories of “13 sleepless nights”. In the new album, there will be two sides, a Side A, and a Side B. Swifties suspect that each side will have a different mood, with one side being “sweet dreams” and the opposite side being “night terrors”.

Students at d.tech have mixed feelings about Swift. “Taylor Swift sucks,” says Isabelle Anderson, a Sophmore. On the other end, Chloe, a senior, states “She creates songs that you can deeply relate to. I love Taylor Swift”. At d.tech, there's a lot of people who love Taylor Swift and a lot of people that have negative feelings for her and her music. Having mixed opinions and viewpoints in a community is good because a person can get exposed to multiple opinions and learn to accept others for who they are.
